Do proposals for internationalizing existing courses and/or developing new ones fall within the scope of this competition?

Yes, provided the submission includes a letter of support from the appropriate department chair(s) and/or dean(s). For a listing of additional sources of funding to support the internationalization of Pitt courses, please visit https://www.ucis.pitt.edu/main/fac-finding-opps.

Will requests for international conference travel and/or participation fall within the scope of this competition?

While support for individual travel abroad does not fall within the competition guidelines, information about available sources of funding to support individual international travel for faculty and students wanting to deliver conference presentations and/or talks at academic meetings can be found at https://www.ucis.pitt.edu/main/fac-finding-opps (faculty) and https://www.ucis.pitt.edu/main/students (students).

Will proposals to develop a new study abroad program or make enhancements to an existing program abroad be considered?

Pitt Study Abroad follows a standard protocol for the development of new study abroad offerings and enhancements to existing programs. Proposals for study abroad programming fall outside of the scope of this competition. Please contact the Pitt Study Abroad (abroad@pitt.edu) if you are interested in program development as it does, where necessary and possible, provide funding for new site development. Do proposals to support individual faculty and/or student mobility for academic research, internships or visiting posts abroad fall within the scope of this competition?

Will requests to support ongoing or existing activities, events, programs or projects in/on the world be considered?

While proposals for new activities, programs, events or projects will be given priority consideration, proposals for internationalizing existing activities, programs, events or projects are also welcome.
